Magic.
There is something intriguing about magic.
I mean…it’s all around you since childhood.
At first, you play the wizard with rabbits and your sleeve.
Then, trips on Nimbus 2000 with Harry Potter.
Along the way you say hello to Tolkien, and now you watch the dragons on the screen and feel scared cause winter is coming.

You like it.
You also like when problems are magically solved by themselves,
When the magic spark in your relationship is well maintained,
And gnomes clean your apartment. Pure magic?
Well, admit. You want to be in some magical place right now…
What about a small, forgotten mountain in the Silesian Beskids?
It’s called Blatnia and have 971m m a.s.l . Here is 7 magical things you can find on the trail:
1. Trees.
A lot of trees. Often turned into the forests. Here you’ll listen to the wind between the leaves, you’ll fall in love in green. Here you’ll be hit by squirrel’s cone. And here you’ll think twice if the trail leads to the summit or to the unknown abyss…

2. The well
It’s origin is at least unknown. Probably the roots date back to the core of the Earth, and underground channels link to Hobbiton. Possibly Dragon’s Mother had a bath in it or even Peter Pan. Strange paintings warn you of toxic substances (in the end the well has a connection to New Zealand) at the same time showing you the right way *. Or maybe it just stands there and gives you an idea where the summit is.

We heard somebody cast a spell on the well. Whoever see it must reach it (stand on the well). This applies to both humans and horses. Who knows what kind of spell it is.

3. Grass
It commands you to stop and other creatures like dogs to chase each other over and over. You won’t rest until you sit and relax (and dogs until collapse). The grass encourages you by the views, relative comfort and magical scent of a ‘relaxation moment’. The charm is irresistible:

4. Horses
You can’t miss horses on Błatnia as there is a ranch near the summit. Every year animals broad their horizons and as a result, you can feel the magic of the herd galloping next to you. Or right on you.

After a moment, as if touched by a magic wand, the animals calm down. There is nothing more magical than the horse and mountains in the background (well, or on the well – see point 2).

5. Steep path
Suddenly, out of the blue … steep path. Not that you didn’t expect it, eventually you’re on the mountain trail… but you were prepared more for a walk than a proper hike. And here you are. Magically just after the turn. But don’t worry, it is just a demanding hill, without the abyss. This time. (easy, it’s only a comparison to Orla Perć or Przełęcz pod Chłopkiem – no danger)

6. Blurry zone.
At some point of the path you enter the area where the camera suddenly loses sharpness. And surely it’s completely not you and your photographic skills. We are all professionals. Magic?

7. Landscape
It’s always magical in the mountains….

For those who require more information, Błatnia is a mountain located on west side of Klimczok in the Silesian Beskids. You can take the trail from Jaworze, Wapienica or Szczyrk (the closest ones). Hiking time (depending on option) is approx. 5 hours (including return time). Interesting one is to reach Błatnia together with Szyndzielnia and Klimczok.

I must warn you – Błatnia is highly addictive. If you go once soon will be a second time. Why? I don’t know. Maybe it’s the atmosphere of calmness and alone tree near the summit. Maybe the space and meadows, which give you a feeling of freedom… You just want to be there all the time. Magic.
And you? What magical place have you visited recently?

* in Polish mountains trails are marked, so you know which way to go
